ABSTRACT

Based on decades of personal experience in the field, this chapter outlines the development of theological education among African Initiated Churches (AICs) in South Africa’s Western Cape and beyond. It provides narratives of two church leaders illustrating the impact of AICs’ educational and community engagement activities. Subsequently, three levels of development are outlined, the personal, the community and the economic level. Based on the narratives, the chapter concludes with recommendations on how development should be done.
