ABSTRACT

One of the central concepts of logical creative thinking is to redefine innovators/inventors as explorers. This chapter discusses how to train oneself to become a prolific explorer using a set of doctrines as a framework. The doctrines are: prolific explorers are highly motivated, prolific explorers have big dreams, prolific explorers chart their own course, prolific explorers challenge assumptions, prolific explorers are perceptive, and prolific explorers are patient and optimistic. The first two doctrines focus on explorers’ aspirations, the next two doctrines focus on how explorers make decisions, and the final two doctrines focus on how explorers engage in this process. For each doctrine, the chapter provides a recommended exercise for interested readers to practice and improve their abilities related to that particular dimension.
