ABSTRACT

A coin that comes up heads 6OD!o of the time would be called "loaded," but its dishonesty could not be detected in 10 throws. If we toss it 10 times and get 6 or 7 heads, we would have to admit that a perfectly balanced coin might do the same. However, if we toss the coin 1000 times and get 600 heads, we have a significant result because we believe it would almost certainly not happen by chance to a perfect coin.
