ABSTRACT

Most people do not use double- or multiple-sample plans because they do not know how they work and they are not sure of the characteristics of any sample plan that uses more than one sample. Poisson table PT-1 makes it easy to find the accurate OC curve for any double-sample plan. The same principles apply to multiple-sample plans, but the procedure becomes a little more complex. The real value of double- and multiple-sample plans, compared with single sampling, lies in the reduced amount of total work that needs to be done. Average sample size curves for double and multiple sampling has always been available to show the reduced workload that attends the use of double- and multiple-sample plans when compared with the single-sample plans. Poisson table PT-1 is also used to determine the ASN of double-sample plans.
