ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the changes that occurred in the major roles discussed are put in the context of North Korean interactions with significant others. The major roles are taken one by one and they are contextualized with the DPRK’s actual interactions with the group of foes or friends. The author identified several spheres of interactions according to which she subsequently proceeded with the analysis. The spheres of interaction include negotiations about North Korea’s missile or nuclear programme, aid provision, criticism of the human rights situation, sanctions and diplomatic support or criticism.
