ABSTRACT

This chapter considers points in selecting the optimum dust control system that will maximize the overall result. A decision must be made whether to provide a separate system and bag filter or to discharge the alcohol-laden dusty air to a central bag filter and, after dust removal, to recirculate the cleaned air to the work room as a conservation measure. Any fibrous, woven, or felted material can be used as the filter medium, Usually, tubes made up of the cloth are used, with the dust-laden air stream impinging on one side of the cloth and leaving the other side as clean air. A thorough familiarity with your plant's processing system is a definite requirement for the person who will be responsible for the selection of a dust control system. The potential hazard of inplant dust can be reduced by unit and central collector systems.
