This chapter deals with deterministic and stochastic models for dynamic modeling.

The main models that are emphasized here are Petri networks and Markov chains.

The models that are presented in detail in this chapter are strategic both for modeling reliability and physical asset behavior, as well as productivity optimization modeling.

The approaches presented are compatible with both deterministic and stochastic methods, but the way these models can help increment the availability and productivity of physical assets is presented.
