ABSTRACT
This chapter identifies some situations and conditions which either facilitate or hamper the program, so that this information can be considered whenever the program is introduced or extended on a mass scale. It provides a brief description of one program, for some basic reasons: it puts forward an innovative concept of early education, the main concern of which is the development of the child's potential to establish a dynamic relationship with the environment, rather than with "learning" specific skills. Consensus exists as to the advantages of children having had some formal experience with education before starting primary school. The educational activities of the program were the fall responsibility of local women, who had had no previous experience of work with children other than their experience as mothers. The educational activities were run entirely by the local women who participated in the project. The educational activities in the classroom included "play in corners" and guided work.
