ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to relate the discussion of Chapters 2, 3, 4 and 6 to evidence of economic growth and development in developing countries since 1960. One of the main concerns is to establish the extent to which developing countries have experienced economic growth, and have ‘developed’ in an economic, as distinct from a non-economic, sense, over this period.
