ABSTRACT

Zwitterionic materials are an emerging class of biomaterials, characterized with their versatile structural features and excellent hemocompatibility. Consequently, this class of biomaterials is gaining significant importance in various biomedical applications including medical diagnostics, tissue engineering, and drug delivery. In this entry, the authors present a very descriptive summary of the development of this important class of materials, in terms of various synthetic approaches, bioefficacies, biomedical applications, and future prospectives.
