ABSTRACT
The development of bioactive biomaterials is expanding the capabilities and performance of materials used in a variety of biomedical applications. As advances are made in cellular and molecular biology, the functionality that can be built into these hybrid materials should greatly expand, hopefully providing solutions to many currently unmet medical needs, such as synthetic small-diameter vascular grafts.
