Electroactive materials may be broadly defined as those materials whose bulk or surface properties may be altered reversibly or irreversibly upon exposure to an electrical stimulus. This entry covers conductive and piezoelectric polymers in detail; overviews of electroresponsive gels and general topics that are material-specific are provided.
