ABSTRACT
Polymer drugs or pharmacologically active macromolecules are one of the most promising choices proposed in the controlled drug delivery field for the development of nanocarriers independently of their origin (natural or synthetic), that can be tailored to give the desired physicochemical properties. These polymeric drugs or polymer–drug conjugates show activity, even though the corresponding monomeric species may or may not be biologically active.
