ABSTRACT
Mucoadhesive polymers, by definition, are polymers that are able to adhere to the mucus gel layer that covers various body tissues. These mucoadhesive properties are in many cases advantageous, and they render such polymers interesting tools for pharmaceutical applications. This entry will review research and trends concerning mucoadhesive polymers and should provide a good platform for ongoing development in this field.
