ABSTRACT

The smart grid represents the transformation of today’s obsolete analog, electromechanically controlled electricity grid system into one which monitors and controls power electronically with integrated communications. The result can optimally integrate electricity supply and demand at all times by enabling the seamless, real‐time, two‐way flow of energy and information between electricity suppliers and all their customers. This smart grid technology and supporting policy transformation are the key to achieving and maintaining a sustainable economic, environmental, and energy future for our nation and the entire world.
