Pesticides belong to a unique group of synthetic chemicals that have high biological activities and that are released legally and extensively into our environment. Therefore, there has been continued concern about their potential hazard to living organisms. A major concern is whether prolonged exposure to pesticides can cause reproductive problems leading to the extinction of species. A variety of studies have been conducted to elucidate the reproductive hazards of pesticides in native species, experimental animals, and human beings.
