ABSTRACT

Science and engineering librarianship is an integral part of a broad range of theoretical and applied scientific fields; it provides access to current and cutting edge research and preserves access to the historic scientific record. Science and engineering librarians work in organizations of all sizes ranging from solo operations and small libraries, to corporate research centers and research libraries of large universities. To interact successfully with their clientele, librarians must understand the scientific method, the structure of the scientific literature, and the communication patterns of scientists and engineers.
