ABSTRACT
The American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a type-of-library division of the American Library Association (ALA), serves the needs of over 10,000 school library media specialists. Its mission is to advocate excellence, facilitate change, and develop leaders in the school library media field. This entry discusses the history of AASL, describes its organization and governance, and highlights its major accomplishment.
