ABSTRACT
CrossRef, the cross-publisher linking network and platform for other collaborative technologies and its services will be outlined in this entry. The impact it has had to date on various segments of the information industry and how it has progressed from a small DOI Registration Agency to a robust platform for publisher collaboration with tens of millions DOIs deposited in its system. CrossRef developments and new services will also be discussed, as will placing CrossRef as part of a larger trend in resource discovery toward virtual integration of distributed resources.
