ABSTRACT
Archaeological artifacts, collections, and associated records represent arguably the most important resource for documenting the entirety of the human career. Their integrity and value, however, depend on appropriate management and curation. This entry provides a brief survey of standards and generally accepted practices for the documentation, acquisition, cataloging, care, use, and interpretation of curated archaeological collections, as well as summarizing metadata standards and current ethical issues confronting archaeological curators.
