ABSTRACT

This entry reviews the five levels of education and training for the publishing and information industry with a special focus on the North America, Britain, and Germany representing the developed world and then Brazil, Russia, India, and China representing the emerging developing countries. The four prime sources of education and training programs including universities, associations, institutes, and industry will be explored in relation to the levels and lengths of courses offered. Finally, it has been recognized that many changes are taking place within the industry as well as in each of the major market segments. Therefore, technology and globalization as the two macro change factors are discussed at the conclusion of the entry.
