ABSTRACT

This entry describes Integrated Library Systems (ILS) as they continue to be developed to meet the needs of today’s ever more complex libraries. This entry covers the history of ILS and describes the components or modules that comprise these systems (e.g., Cataloging, Acquisitions, Circulation, Digital Rights Management, etc.) It also describes how these systems have evolved over several decades and how they continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of libraries.
