ABSTRACT

The Association for Library Collections and Technical Services is one of the 11 divisions of the American Library Association (ALA). In 1957, this division was established from the merger of several ALA units with common interests. It was called the Resources and Technical Services Division (RTSD) until 1989 when the present name was approved by the membership. Association for Library Collections and Technical Services focuses on six areas: standards, best practices, publications, continuing education, professional development, and information exchange.
