ABSTRACT
Despite the widespread application of digital computers, the neural network still performs better in terms of cognitive task operations, such as understanding the natural language and identifying patterns. By exploiting the inherent advantages of optics, such as massive interconnection and parallelism, and combining this with the flexibility of computer operation, this entry presents several hybrid optical neural nets in which both the strengths of optics and digital computers are utilized.
