ABSTRACT
Image restoration describes the recovery of an original image frame from a degraded observation. This entry discusses classical digital methods of field image restoration. These methods consider an image that is degraded by filtering and additive noise, and the resulting algorithms include the generalized inverse filter, constrained least squares, Wiener, Kalman, and maximum a posteriori techniques.
