ABSTRACT
This entry is concerned with the light-scattering techniques developed for quantitative studies of tissues. It discusses the photon transport in tissues and describes the methods for the solution of direct and inverse scattering problems. The theoretical consideration is based on the radiation transfer theory and the numerical Monte Carlo method employed for the solution of direct and inverse problems of photon transport in multilayered tissues.
