ABSTRACT

It is often the human observer who uses an electro-optical (EO) device and makes decisions. Therefore, it is essential to know the performance of a complete viewing system, including the human-in-the-loop. Measurement of human performance is not a straightforward process. Psychophysics is the technology that enables the experimenter to measure and quantify human performance (with or without EO viewing device) in a systematic, reproducible way, taking into account the specific properties of the human senses and mind.
