ABSTRACT
Polarization is a fundamental characteristic of light. The ability to measure polarization and understand the results is essential for anyone involved with optics, and careful consideration should be given to polarization control and use for most modern optical systems. This entry is an overview of polarization measurement techniques. Despite the common goal of measuring polarization, an incredibly wide variety of techniques are used.
