ABSTRACT
Laser Doppler velocimetry, particle-imaging velocimetry, and stereo-imaging velocimetry are the three main fields of study in velocimetry. Each has its advantages and disadvantages depending on the particular application. This entry provides an overview of velocimetry and its uses in the field of science and technology as well as business and industry. The key to a successful velocimetry is to choose the appropriate velocimetry technique, experimental chamber, and most of all tracer particles.
