ABSTRACT
This entry presents an overview of the image coding field, the JPEG-2000 standard, known formally as ISO/IEC International Standard 15444. The concepts and methods involved in JPEG-2000 image coding are outlined, concentrating on the JPEG-2000 baseline and the features that distinguish JPEG-2000 from other image coding methods.
