ABSTRACT
The principal–agent perspective views the interaction between two parties as a situation in which two actors agree to cooperate with each other in a contractual relationship that requires the principal to pay the agent for activities the agent makes on behalf of the principal. This entry presents a review of the literature and the development of this field of study.
