ABSTRACT
The restorative justice paradigm shows promise of offering crime victims more justice than they currently receive in the dominant criminal justice paradigm. While traditional justice practices tend to ignore victims' needs and treat crime as an offense against the state, restorative justice recognizes that crime involves real-life individuals. Rather than simply inflicting more harm via punishment, it seeks to heal individuals and repair communities.
