ABSTRACT

With the increase in network analysis-based research, there has been greater attention placed on the need for advanced methodologies. The use of network analysis within public administration, though limited, has been gaining popularity to address issues in various social contexts ranging from environmental management to disaster management, social service delivery to education policy, and economic development to transportation policy. Although network research is diverse in topical applications, there are still challenges to be addressed, such as use of basic network measures like centrality and density. This entry examines the use of network analysis for public administration and seeks to further the integration of this method when examining complex issues.
