Monitoring of any controlled process is a component of an outcome-producing, closed-loop system for assuring continued operation of critical processes in accordance with validated design conditions. This entry begins by reviewing validation and monitoring rationale, and then moves to examine the evaluation of the monitoring plan and limits and the selection of monitoring methods, materials, and equipment.
