ABSTRACT

Drugs are administered for their pharmacological effects, and it is the objective of physicians to use drugs optimally in the treatment of their patients. This can be accomplished with an optimal dosing regimen utilizing an appropriate dosage, route, and frequency of administration to achieve maximal pharmacological efficacy with minimal side effects. This entry focuses on the method of determining proper dosage in order to balance out any possible side effects and discusses the changing of dosage based on dose response.
