ABSTRACT
Advanced drug delivery formulations have been allowing more and more complex therapeutic goals to be accomplished mainly through a control of the rate, time and/or site of release. Pulsatile delivery systems may release the active ingredient in single or even multiple sequential pulses (repeated or multi-pulse delivery). This entry discusses various types of pulsatile systems for drug delivery in terms of their functionality and applications.
