ABSTRACT
Sterilizing grade membrane filtration is widely used within the biopharmaceutical industry to remove contaminants, especially microorganisms from liquids, air and gases. The aim of this entry is to describe the parameters, possible effects, and mechanisms to be used to perform challenge tests, and to present a discussion on filtration modes, sterilizations, and integrity testing.
