ABSTRACT

Nanoparticle technology as an emerging technology in drug delivery has produced a number of successes, enabling commercialization of several poorly water-soluble compounds like rapamycin (Rapamune®), fenofibrate (TriCor®), and paclitaxel (Abraxane®). The aim of this entry is to review the available nanoparticle-engineering technologies and their applicationsin drug delivery and improving bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.
