ABSTRACT

The discovery, development, and selling of veterinary medicines help insure healthy animals. Disease-free livestock allow more efficient and safe contribution of foodstuffs for humans, while healthy companion animals such as dogs and cats make pet ownership more enjoyable. The goal of this entry is to describe the various types of dosage forms used for both food producing and companion animals. The dosage forms, information useful to determine what dosage for to develop, some challenges encountered in veterinary dosage forms, and emerging areas of drug delivery in animals will be discussed.
