ABSTRACT
The author notes that the “supply chain” has become an umbrella process supplanting individual functional perspectives like manufacturing, distribution, and procurement. If enterprises are to achieve lasting benefits, they need to move away from local improvements to overarching processes, and the supply chain encompasses the end‐to‐end processes on which the enterprise depends.
