ABSTRACT

The conduct of complex dynamic systems has been the focus of research across disciplines. The intense scrutiny of such systems has led to the unearthing of such fascinating features as attractors, strange attractors, and fractals. Examining the behavior of dynamic systems provides a sense of the direction in which the system is headed, as well as allows us to determine patterns of behavior in systems that are otherwise unpredictable. The study of complex systems, of which attractors and fractals are a component, has provided the basis for a better understanding of the nature of chaos and turbulence.
