ABSTRACT

The user interface should have attractive, friendly access for non-computer-oriented users, and be an active, stimulating device for knowledge acquisition. From several points of view, representation of knowledge is the key problem of expert systems and of artificial intelligence in general. The builder of an expert system designs the knowledge representation with the conscious critics of related compromises. Knowledge about the uncertainty of the uncertainty methods is a basic professional and ethical ingredient of all people who design or apply expert systems. Cognitive psychology, the psychology of cognition, knowledge acquisition, and brain processing, is a close companion of computer scientists and designers of expert systems. Knowledge engineers first clarify the concepts, putting them into an object frame; then the environment of the object in a more elaborated and general frame scheme, and continue the inquiry by representing typical situations, actions, events, drafting synopses, scripts, and putting them into net-like schemes.
