ABSTRACT

The properties of the superaustenitic stainless steel 25Cr-22Ni-5.6Mo-1.5Cu-2W-0.4N are discussed with special emphasis on structural stability and corrosion performance in various chloride-containing solutions.

Laboratory and long term field tests carried out on unwelded and welded specimens in synthetic solutions and in natural sea water showed that the new UR B66/UNS 31266 grade is one of the best candidates for use in natural and chlorinated sea water.
