ABSTRACT

On the basis of clinical history and physical examination (Table 2.1), ambulatory patients can be classified in one of three probability groups for deep venous thrombosis:

■ low-risk group (score < 0, i.e., 5% probability) ■ medium-risk group (score 1-3, i.e., 33% probability) ■ high-risk group (score > 3, i.e., 85% probability).
