ABSTRACT
Approximately 570,000 new cases of breast cancer occur in the world each year, and breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
Breast cancer survival rates are extremely variable, with a current 5-year survival in the U.K. of 68%. This compares poorly with the rest of Europe (average 73%)
and the United States (average 84%).
