ABSTRACT

The detection of CO gas is very important for the prediction of fire in mine. The study of new sensor for CO is necessary for the safe of mine. The optic fiber sensor is possible for the detection of CO gas. As compared with other sensors, the optic fiber sensor is good in anti-electromagnetic jamming, long in use life and low in wasting energy. There might be many principles for the optic fiber sensor of CO, the technology of CO sensor on the disturb mode of optic fiber is introduced in the paper. It is showed that CO can be detected by the flow of light energy in optic fiber, which is caused by the disturbing technology. On the study of the relation between the disturb energy and CO medium, the sensibility and the selectivity for the detection of CO are researched. The experiments showed that the optic fiber sensor for CO is simple and reliable. The sensor will have wide application in mine safe.
