ABSTRACT

Based on the concept of engineering geological model (EGM) and the techniques of visualization in scientific computing (VISC), combined with the project of engineering geological research on establishing the upper mining level under thick unconsolidated aquifers of Taiping coal mine, an engineering geological model has been improved in its function of visualization. The extract of modeling factors influencing on establishing the upper mining level and the methods describing the 3D features and their visualization were realized. Further more, the development of caving zone and water flowing fractured zone is predicted and simulated dynamically in order to realize the direct discovery of mining effects.
