ABSTRACT

Estrogens are steroid hormones that exhibit a broad range of physiological activities. 17βHydroxyestradiol is the female sex hormone active in developing the mammary gland and the uterus, maintaining pregnancy, relieving menopausal symptoms, and preventing cardiovascular and bone diseases (1). An apparent consequence of estrogen is the increase in short-term meno-pausal symptoms including vasomotor hot flashes, urogenital atrophy, and psychological functioning. A hot flash is the classic sign of menopause and the primary clinical symptom experienced by women during this transitional stage (2).
