ABSTRACT
When nonsterile and sterile pharmaceuticals are formulated, chemical preservatives are added to protect the products from microbial contamination and spoilage. An adulterated pharmaceutical product represents a serious health threat to consumers by the loss of the drug potency, drug efficacy, presence of high numbers of microorganisms, and microbial pathogens.
