ABSTRACT

Rice is a warm-season' 'summer" crop. Wheat is a cool-season' 'winter" crop. When grown in a double-crop rotation, they are the basis for a rice-wheat system (RWS) of crop production. Such double-cropping systems increase the efficiency ofproduction for the individual farmer and the general economy of the agricultural region, because two economically fruitful crops are being harvested each year. This efficiency is produced by maximum utilization of available soil, water, labor, input, and climatic resources.
